These audits are meant to check that every centre that provides UW degrees maintain those quality standards required by the Quality Assurance Agency (similar to the Spanish ANECA), both in the programmes of the different careers offered as well as in other more specific aspects such as exams, projects, dissertations...
This year the examiners that have participated in the auditing come from, 5 from the University of Wales, and the remaining 7, from the UNED, University of Kent, Southamphon Solent, Manchester, University of Deusto, the Pontificia of Salamanca and Mondragón. With them was John Carrivick of the British Council.

Besides, all of the quality mechanisms carried out jointly by Cesine and UWales are audited in the UK by the QAA, whose reports are public and can be consulted on internet. The QAA, created in 1993, has already carried out audits in Spanish centres dependent on Wales and maintains rigid controls to check that the established procedures are being followed. The QAA is the one that determines the quality criteria for every British university and affiliated centres.
Cesine is authorized by the Government of Cantabria according to R. D. 557/91, art. 19, about the creation and recognition of Universities and Centres, and the Organic Law 6/2001 on Universities. It offers University of Wales degrees, an official and public UK university founded in 1893 with more than 80,000 students currently. With about 15,000 undergraduate degrees and more than 4,000 post-graduate degrees annually, University of Wales is the second biggest UK university as to number of degrees given. This British institution collaborates with university institutions in more than 30 countries on 4 continents.
